Didn't get to bed until about 1:15 this morning and then Dad wanted me to set the alarm for 2:15 to make they were up and ready to go. I didn't bother getting up as the lights were on and I could hear Dad and Mom up. They left about 20 minutes later and shortly after I heard Dad telling Erin something about Erin's calves being out. *groan* Erin and I hurried out there to see calves on the driveway and the yard. Erin found their route of escape was from a fallen panel by the round pen. We chased the one group in and then went around the yard and brought another group in. While we were chasing them in, we saw one on the other side of the round pen. After getting the last group in we went to look for him. I checked by the round pen and area and could not find him so Erin and I went scouting the yard again. I decided to go back to the same area again and found him. I don't know if left and came back or what but we finally got him in. We didn't get in until a little after 3:30 AM.

We went out for chores later on in the morning and, after I started water for the calves(one pen doesn't have a waterer), noticed that there were eight calves in the pen/alley down by the scale. They weren't there earlier on in the morning as we had chased Erin's calves through that area. Dad has order for calves so the buyer had a small group of them delivered sometime this morning between when we chased them in and before chores. I didn't hear the phone ring (usually they call because we have a couple different unloading places) so that is why it confused me a bit at the start when I first saw them there.

After chores were done, Graham arrived and we went down to Ivomec the calves. We finished getting everything set up-making a pen inside with straw bales to keep them separate, the alley connected to the pen, etc. Since we've had above freezing weather, the corrals have turned into somewhat of a mucky, miry, manury mess. I managed to slip. :P I was trying to wipe off my hands/wrist as I wanted to put my gloves back on. Erin laughingly said, "for cryin' out loud you don't have a Rolex on Lindsey...don't worry about it right now...it is nothing that some water won't fix. " Ha! I survived. :P Two calves managed to get out. We got one in and another one we chased for a while. He ran through the one fence a couple times and then ended up rubbing/pushing the protector off the side of the quad. Graham finally just let him go and he headed up the hill to the calves in the corrals above.

After helping Graham feed the calves above, Erin and I went to try and chase that calf into a pen above. He went around the edge of the pen a couple times and then squeezed between the bales and the gate. I decided to try and open the gate quick but it was catching on the edge of the other gate of the next pen. I climbed over quick, pushed the gate over and then opened the one into the pen. He thankfully ran right in and then as I went to close the other gate, the one big square straw bale fell over to the pen. I was off to the side a little bit and the gates were still open so that was very good. We didn't need a crumpled Lindsey or gate. :P LOL!

So, it was a long day...hopefully it isn't an indication of what the remaining part of the week is going to be like. :P :D To quote a Garfield comic: (Jon talking about something Garfield did) Some day I'll look back and laaaaaugh.

Tomorrow we are going to try get chores done early and then Ivomec all the calves at Graham's and one pen of Dad's here.

Dad called this evening and they made it sound and safe. They only had an half hour between flights but Dad said it was a small terminal so they didn't have to go far to board the next plane. Tomorrow they are going to see the Confederation Bridge. I hope they take pictures; I'd love to see that some day!

Off to enjoy my coffee...don't worry, I'll be tired enough to sleep. :)
